The Farm and its Products
Le Capanne is an ancient farm of approximately 100 hectares and has been in the same family for several generations.
The house is an integral part of the farm which is certified organic and produces Tuscan IGP-label extra virgin oil and Tuscan IGT-label wine. Guests can visit our annexed wine cellar and taste these excellent quality products during their stay on the farm. The fruit and vegetables we serve come from our organic farm, and it is also possible to pick them directly off the trees when they are ripened. The farm also produces cereals.
Extra virgin olive oil
The farm includes a 19 hectares olive grove. There are about 5000 olive trees situated on [in] the AREZZO valleys in Valle di Chio at an altitude of 350-450 metres above sea level, facing South-East.
The olive trees belong to the typical Tuscan varieties of Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino and grow on a marly ground. Olives are picked by hand and crushed within 24 hours from the picking. All the elements confer high chemical and organoleptic quality to the “LE CAPANNE " extra virgin olive oil that is also certified Biological and IGP Tuscan, and is therefore ideal for a healthy diet.
The extra virgin olive oil “LE CAPANNE ", with its fruity and delicately spicy taste, is a perfect dressing for raw and cooked dishes, such as vegetables, meat and fish.
Wine
The farm also has a vineyard with various species of grapes: Sangiovese, Cabernet, Merlot, Trebbiano and Malvasia.
The wine-making takes place in the farm cellar where red and white Tuscan IGT-label wines of excellent qualities are produced.
